Mabry Mill

Mabry Mill, the most photographed spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway, was originally built in 1910. The historic water-powered grist mill, sawmill and nearby blacksmith shop provide you with a view of pioneer life along the Parkway. Self-guided tours include a sorghum mill, soap making kettle, and an "old time" whiskey still.

Lover's Leap Scenic Overlook

The most scenic view in Patrick County is tied to a legend of a white settler's son and a beautiful Native American woman named Morning Flower.

Rock Churches

Six rock churches constructed of native stones from the Blue Ridge Mountains, were built in the first half of the 20th century by Rev. Bob Childress. Made famous by the book The Man Who Moved a Mountain by Richard C. Davids (1970), these historic-but-active churches stand as living testimony to the spirit, faith and grit of the mountain people.

Reynolds Homestead

The Reynolds Homestead, once known as the Rock Spring Plantation, is the birthplace of tobacco magnate R.J. Reynolds and his brother A.D. Reynolds, whose son founded Reynolds Metals. Today the historic Patrick County, Virginia, property acts as part museum, part community gathering place, and part educational and cultural center.

Crooked Road Heritage Music Trail

The Crooked Road is a 330 mile driving trail through the mountains of Southwest Virginia that connects nine Major Venues and over 60 Affiliated Venues and Festivals that visitors can enjoy every day of the year. Although the Trail is focused on the uniqueness and vitality of this region’s heritage music, it also includes outdoor recreational activities, museums, crafts, and historic and cultural programs.

Floyd Country Store

The Floyd Country Store is renowned as a place to experience authentic Appalachian music, and is home to a group of musicians, flatfoot dancers, and cloggers who are carrying on the tradition of their families who’d pass the time playing music and dancing together. Weekly events include: Friday Night Jamboree, Sunday Music Jam, Honky Tonk Thursdays and so much more!

Blue Ridge Music Center

The Blue Ridge Music Center in nearby Galax, VA celebrates the music and musicians of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Each spring, summer, and fall, we welcome thousands of visitors to enjoy some of the region’s finest traditional music, including bluegrass, old-time, folk, Americana, country blues, and gospel. The museum features the Roots of American Music, an interactive exhibition highlighting the historical significance of the region’s music.

Patrick County Music Association

The Music Association offers monthly MUSIC JAMBOREES at the Rotary Field, Stuart, VA. Doors open at 4PM. Showtime 5PM It is FREE to the public. with plenty of space for dancing, socializing and eating!

Buffalo Mountain Adventures offers fully facilitated, all-inclusive, “build your own adventure” style trips, outdoor activities and retreats for small groups.
